    WTB: Bearikade Bear Canister

Interested in buying a Bearikade bear canister (they are required where I do most of my camping in the Adirondacks).

Does anyone have one that they are not using?

I have a used Backpacker's Cache Bear Canister. They sell for about $70 new at REI. I don't know how much it would cost me to ship it, but if you're interested, pm me and we can work out details.

Thanks for the offer Bridger, but I am looking for a Bearikade specifically.

I'm not sure what agencies approve what canisters are allowed in the Adirondacks but you may want to take a look at this...

Bearikade is not one of the listed 'approved' canisters for 2012. If you haven't done so, I would check first since those Bearikades can cost a pretty penny.

    Thanks. That's good info.

The Bearikades are approved for use by SIBBG (for black bears).

The NYSDEC does not specify manufacturers or certifications. They do however, discourage using the Bear Vaults (which I have two of) because there is a particularly smart black bear that knows how to open them.

The Bearikades are pricey, but they are the Cadillac of bear canisters.
