    Purpose?

I notice several people going to low-profile colors (browns, greens, camo, black). If I was not involved in Rangers I can tell you I would be going to the bright pinks and yellows and blues and reds... . Not because I like them but for function.

    Case for Neons

First, it makes it easier to find base camp should you become lost.

Second, it makes your gear less likely to get run over by youngsters and adults in the middle of the night or during those evening adventure games.

Third, it makes it easier to locate gear and sort when prepping for an outing.

If I wasn't in Rangers where I'd get laughed at a little (or a lot) my gear would look like a float at Carnival.

If you need stealth, color stealth. If you hunt, a stealth colored tarp perhaps if you also set it up as shelter in the field, but UQ and TQ and hammock? I'm not a hunter yet so I wonder how many guys out there really hunt from their hammock?

    Just my two bits.

Thanks for all the replies. Just as an update, I had a great phone call with Adam at HG and have decided to stick with the standard HG 1.1 olive and black combo. I think was confusing the issue by trying to go for M50 colours when I don't really need to be counting the grams. Adam is a really nice guy to deal with.

    Thanks again

You Know, Ive always gone black and stealth colors but I really like your two bits, they are very thoughtful, and yeah a bright UQ would def be easier to find when a flashlight hits it then a black on. I know its a bit off topic but from now on I'm gonna start to hang my hunting orange wind shirt from my tarp when I walk away from base camp at night to make it easier to find when traveling back. Thanks for the thoughts and thanks for helping me come up with this idea.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

You might try looking at wallpaper or carpet that appeals to you. . .look to the colors that are being combined to give an effect. Sometimes is more the way the colors are being combined than the color itself that has the greater impact.
