    Goat Island 2012 report,

What a great time! I made it over about dinner time on Friday. I met many folks and had such an awesome time. My only regret is that my wife and daughter didn't come. Several other children and signifagant others were there.

Saturday morning was chilly (high 50's), however it warmed up by lunch. The dinner that night was ...... Wow. I stuffed myself on shrimp, potatoes and corn. Then I really over did it with the cobbler/dump cake/"goat island cake".
Oh almost forgot! The auction was spectacular. Lots of fun was had by all.

I will definitely be back for next year WITH the family as well! Thanks everyone!

This was Muskrat's set up for the Goat Island Hang. The first night he was using a knot set up. The second night he was using whoopie slings. Can you tell why???

Sorry for my delay in posting but its been a really busy week for me.

My family and I had another great time on the island. It was great to hang out with the old friends and make some new ones. The kids had a great time and from Carolinabackpacker's video, its obvious the older kids had a great time too. Thanks Jeremy for posting the video. Thanks JBR for posting your pics too. That sunset picture really helps to set the island mood for me. To TCBTX, thanks for making the trip from TX to hang with us! I'm sure you family in Charlotte had a great time with you even though your primary reason for the trip was to hang with all of us

And thanks CW for a great hammock. Love the lime green stealth look. It sleep great. Just wished that amsteel wasn't sooo slick, it be much easier to keep a knot that would be easy to come undone. (brief history... I am well educated in my knots and really wanted to use knots only for my suspension. NOT a good idea with amsteel though unless you like spending 15 minutes to undo each knot...)

Thanks to all the cottage vendors for their contribution to help raise money for Goat Island. We might be providing a small monetary donation to the Lake Greenwood Management dept. but its a huge contribution from a giving group like Hammock Forums.

A special thanks needs to go out to Chickenwing for ALL of his efforts to make this hang happen. From all of the organization to getting on the island, contacting the cottage vendors, setting up the auction, and getting everyone off the island.... my hats off to you buddy. A job well done.

Looking forward to a repeat event again next year....

And Swampfox... my daughters are still disappointed that you couldn't make it. Although... I hope you had a great hike on the Foothills Trail. You should have had some great weather during our weekend!
