I have both the HH Expedition Asym and an ENO DN. I do not yet have a bug net for the ENO so when I hammock during bug season I have used the HH. Having said that I have just recently decided to go exclusively with my ENO (will be getting a bugnet). I just find that I sleep better in it and it is more comfy. I like that it does not have a bug net attached to it so when there are no bugs the hammock does not feel as claustrophobic. I also love the ENO for sitting in and lounging (seated sideways or even diagonal). Although I can't complain about it, I may end up selling my HH.
I never liked the ENO, may just be me. I never could seem to get a comfortable lay in it. I have the HHDJ, HHExplorer Ultralite, and Safari, and I love the HH's. Keep in mind, October Hennessey usually has their big sale. You may be able to get a good Hennessey for a very good price.
"No whining in the woods"
I started with a Hennessy, and then ended up with something more like what you have. Found I didn't need bug protection all that much and there were other options besides the permanent net hammocks - lighter options. And I like the open feel, too.
I'm like you. Most of my camping happens not in bug season so it's not usually an issue. I like the Hennessy ok it just feels claustrophobic to me having the bug net there (especially when I don't need it because there are no bugs lol)!
I use both the Hennessy Explorer Deluxe and the ENO DN (with a Fronkey Bug Net). The HH DE is nice, but as others have stated setting up the ENO is simple. Not that the HH is difficult but I can take it anywhere in any bag. stowed away it is small. Earlier this summer when I was tight on space, I only wanted to take a 5 gal. bucket to stow every thing in my canoe, I took the eno to conserve space.
I have put a whoopie sling suspension on it with a ridge line so it is only slightly modified.
I also have a GT Single, and am now making a dual layer camo hammock, because I can!
I would say get used to using the ENO, enjoy it. Find out what you like and how to use it.
I have a Hennessy Explorer UL bottom entry and I have said repeatedly "those Hennessy people really know what they are doing". I have loved it, and have not found anything I dislike about it. It lays really comfortably and sets up easily (converted to whoopies). That all being said, I also have a DIY ripstop nylon "lounging" hammock that I love for just general hanging. As everybody has said, nothing wrong with either as long as they are enjoyable to you. HYOH
