Needle recommendations for whoopie sling?

Does anyone have any needle recommendations for splicing/constructing a whoopie sling using Amsteel Blue 7/62"? I've found some past posts about the subject but was wondering if anyone has tried multiple needle designs and found one that is perfect for the task?

I was thinking some kind of needle that was ~3 1/2" long would with a slightly rounded head would work best. Really, I wouldn't know, I've never made a whoopie sling before.

I have made many whoopie slings, but have never used a needle before. If you taper the end of the amsteel and tape it off you should be able to "worm" it threw. I don't know what word to use instead of worm

There are many videos on youtube showing this. I just don't see a need for myself to purchase a needle since I will not be making a large quantity of them.

I think most people are using a piece of wire folded in half or my favorite, a Dritz Loop Turner, to splice amsteel.

I went to home Depot and got a 24" peice of copper electrical wire folded it in half and it works well and cost me less than a dollar

Folded wire works and I use it for smaller stuff but once you start using this Dritz Loop Turner, you'll kick yourself for cheaping out on it. Once when I only had one, I misplaced it. Now I have four or five. (sale at Hamrick's)
I can splice watching television like my grandmother used to knit.

I use a piece of floral wire from my wife's craft area, trim off the green fuzzy stuff and bend it in half. It works great, it's cheap and convenient (at least for me it is).

After using the loop turner a couple of times, I bought two more just as backups.

I use a piece of green floral wire that I got from Walmart. Really cheap for a pack of several and works perfectly folded in half. It's really easy to fit through the 7/64" Amsteel, though maybe I just thought that because I started with Lash-It.
