Tarp tensioning without a sewn ridgeline?

I have used a coated nylon tarp that doesn't have any sewn in ridgeline and have hung it both diagonally and straight without any damage to the tarp. Can the same be done with Sil-nylon tarps?
I am looking at a Sil-nylon square tarp that has a sewn in re-enforcement running from 1 edge to the opposite edge. But at times I will want to hang it diagonally. Will pulling it tight at an angle to the existing ridgeline cause any damage?

this is just an opinion, but i don't think it would.....i might seam seal it good though just in case the 45° tension on the seam causes a needle hole to stretch a bit, but i guess that might depend on how it's "reinforced" too, the first time you string it i would not tighten it quite as much as you normally would and inspect after it has hung awhile, be a good time for a backyard experiment before you hit the woods
