I'm moving to Lake Charles Louisiana in a few weeks and am wondering if there is any backpacking in this area. I have found a few campgrounds and trees to hang a hammock on are plentiful but I haven't found any close-by trails for backpacking. Any suggestions?

Bump, I would like to know as well, I've got business there.
The Lone Star Hiking Trail is aproximately 130 miles long and goes Eastward from East Texas through the Piney Woods to a point north and west of Houston. Check with the Forest Service before embarking, however, as portions of it are closed for removal of dead trees.
There is always the Wild Azalea Trail in central Louisiana too
