Let's plan another Nor Cal hike n' hang.
This time it will be in July, starting at the Grouse Ridge Trailhead in the Tahoe National Forest.
The trailhead is off of Bowman Road (off of 20 off of 80 not far from Lake Spaulding (link to TNF site). There is a nice fire lookout there to climb also.
This will be a Friday, Saturday, Sunday event. The poll is to decide between two different weekends in July.
The road to the trailhead is not going to be in great shape. I have a high clearance vehicle available: I'll drive and can take some passengers.
English Mountain is the topo map to look at for this trip.
Our initial thought (mine and gRaFFIx's) was to start at Grouse Ridge and head to Glacier lake (about 4 miles), camp there Friday and Saturday, returning on Sunday.
Those who want to explore further can then climb the Black Buttes (right next to Glacier Lake) or head to Five Lakes Basin or any of the other many many lakes in the area.
But that is not cast in stone. More like soggy Plaster of Paris.
Here's an extensive photo page (not mine) of a 2004 hike to Glacier Lake and the Black Buttes from Grouse Ridge.
