    Problems accessing site

    I'm typing this from my phone because my pc won't access Hammockforums.net in Firefox or Internet Explorer. It was fine one day, next it just hangs (ha ha) before putting up a 'connection to server was reset' message. It's fine on every other site I visit except this one. Any ideas why would be appreciated!

    I'm a loyal firefox user and I'm on it with no problems. Make sure your flash, adobe, and all of that stuff is updated.

    Oh yea...keep in mind I'm on an older version. I refuse to update to the new firefox just yet, because they don't include some of the things that I use daily.

    For those of you that have problems getting to the web site from your computer, here are some ideas to try below.

    1. The first thing I would try is to disable your virus program and then try get back to the web site.
    1a. If you can log in after doing this then there is something in your virus program blocking you from accessing the web site. You will need to figure out what is doing this.

    2. Try doing a ping to the web site from your computer;
    2a. To do a ping you on a PC go to the Start button in the bottom left corner of your desktop.
    Go to the All Programs and the folder Accessories, pick Command Prompt.
    Type in the following command;
    ping www.hammockforums.net
    You should get results similar to the list below with particular attention to Lost=0.

    Ping statistics for 206.123.103.82:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss
    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 65ms, Maximum = 367ms, Average = 141ms

    3. Try doing a tracert to the web site from your computer;
    3a. To do a tracert you on a PC go to the Start button in the bottom left corner of your desktop.
    Go to the All Programs and the folder Accessories, pick Command Prompt.
    Type in the following command;
    tracert www.hammockforums.net
    You should get a list of places with the final result in the list looking similar to the list below.
    With particular attention to at.hammockhosting.net [206.123.103.82] being in the final line.

    17 108 ms 87 ms 114 ms COLO4-DALLA.edge3.Dallas1.Level3.net [8.9.232.74]
    18 152 ms 136 ms 66 ms 206.123.64.130
    19 67 ms 65 ms 66 ms at.hammockhosting.net [206.123.103.82]
    Trace complete.

    4. If you still are unable to access the web site please send me the results to steps 2 and 3 along with the IP address that you are trying to access Hammock Forums from. You can obtain that IP address by going to this url http://www.whatismyip.com/

    For some reason there's a DNS problem with some DNS servers. I run into this at work, have to use an internet proxy to read the site giving me some "barely acceptable" results (I use Hidemyass.com, if it happens again you could try that as a workaround). I don't know why but it won't resolve the DNS for Hammockforums.net. Been through it with our IT guy when I couldn't make it work, kind of resigned myself at this point.

    Same problem here. I switched to Explorer and am now able to get back on.
