Those early plastic gears did not last. They got brittle and broke frequently. You probably should not oil those because the oil could react with the plastic to weaken it. That's why I always recommend following the manual's directions for oiling a sewing machine. But of course any kind of machinery really. I doubt if it is anything specific that you did.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

I haven't found a schematic for your machine yet, but I came across this link...http://sewingmachine221sale.bizland....re/page73.html. Scroll down to the Singer Feed Gears. Can you tell if one of these is what you need?

Got my gear in and replaced it. Also got a lesson in sewing machines. When I got the gear on and all part back in place I tried to put the belt back on only to realize that it had come off in the inside of the machine. It took me a while but I figured out how to get the belt on. Wasn't very hard. Everything was moving very smooth. Then I put in the needle. Found another problem. The timing was off. I searched the Internet and figured out how to set the timing. One lesson I learned was to put the needle in when I'm checking the gears. It saves time taking the machine apart again. Lol. Anyway I'm back in the game

Lol. I'm staying with my grandad while he is in bad shape. He is one of those old guys that grew up with no money and had to do things himself. He could do anything when he was able. He told me today that he could have controlled the world if he had had the Internet. He laughs at me when I have a question or a problem, I pull out my phone to find the answer.

Oh how i love that generation, and hate that attitude is almost gone. I'm glad you got your eqiup back up and running! I can't imagine how you felt...i went crazy when i left the plug for mine in my wife's car when she went to work. The most stir crazy I've ever been for 8 hours.
    It's a hammock thing, you won't understand!

The wife no longer kicks me out of bed after she saw a hammock hanging in the dog house.

I may have spoke too soon. Does this mean my timing is off?

It could be that, but I would check threading and adjust tensions first. This is the bottom of the fabric right?

Yes it is the bottom. I did sew some just fine. Then later came back and this what it's doing. It jus not pulling the thread tight.
