My grandfather and namesake made his living with a junk yard before they were auto-recycling plants, so I take exception. Supply and demand. There is no demand for seat-belts in or from cars and trucks: They never wear out. As we proponents of these commodities note: Find the most beat-up vehicle, and the seat-belts will likely be in fine condition, (washable spilled coffee and ketchup stains allowed.)

I've been to three auto-recyclers. Two of them offered me scissors or box-cutters, and pointed me to the available vehicles. One warned me about nesting-yellow jackets. I haven't even had to pay a premium to get an assortment of colors. Know how light the original VW Golf was? I've got belting from one. And dark maroon belting from an early Monte Carlo.

As Lucinda sings "Where is [your] love?"

    All smilies implied.
