    Suspension recs please

I am a total newbie and just bought a hammock without a suspension system. The hammock is a DreamHammock Crinkle 60. Which type of suspension should I choose? I live in New Hampshire and will doing most of my trips in the whites. I bought it on the forums here. Here is the description:

Is a custom made Crinkle 60 hammock (60"x132") single layer black. Exact same as above. I have only tested this one for about an hour. It also comes with the Amsteel chain links, double ended stuff sack, DIY adjustable ridge line (2.2mm Zing It). No Suspension included.

All advice on any hanging topic is appreciated, but I need to order the suspension soon.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

i like the whoopie slings all in one type, but check the tree diameter where you will be hanging and get straps accordingly. really simple to use and adjust.

I started out with whoopies and tree straps. I found them to be easy to use and kinda cool. I have seen no reason try anything else. Choose a good toggle and you are set. My son (9 at the time) and I made whoopies and cut arrow shafts for toggles so you know its not that hard. Straps came from strapworks.

Go ahead and install a structural ridge line if your hammock did not come with it. It does help.

Whoopies and straps have worked well for me. I have also found that the Warbonnet or Arrowhead cinch buckles with straps are great too!

My personal suggestion would be a Dutchware set of whoopie hooks, whoopie slings, tree straps and continuous loop. Great set up!

You want to buy suspension or make it yourself?

Dream Hammocks sells it all, so does Warbonnet as well as many other vendors you'll find in the vendor section, including Dutch.

You can diy it all though, if you're so inclined.

Probably the simplest is straps and rings.

Thanks Randy. I am going to try making a bug net as my first project. If that fails, stings. If my suspension fails.....

If it aint Dutch it aint much....lol lots of good options but IMHO I echo wnhat has already been said and for me the easiest and fastest suspension system is Dutch Woopie Hooks spliced onto adjustable end of woopie and dead eye larks headed to teree strap. Makes setting up and taking down hammock fast and easy.

I was thinking of ordering the whoopie slings from Arrowhead. What is the difference between those and the Dutch ones? I will check out the link to the Dutch vendor posted by Randy above. Thanks again all for the information.

Well 7/64th woopies are 7/64th woopies regardless or whom you get them from. However the difference is in what straps and hard wear come with it. I have Dutch straps and AHE straps and Dutch Straps are a bit lighter. Also if you order from Dutch you can get Dutch Woopie hooks as in comparison with AHE suspension you get toggles or you could use biners if you had them. They all work the same however its what system you wish to you.
