2 old guys on the trail

My friend Chigger, HF member from Garner, N.C., is in town this weekend, and we decided to do a short overnighter just for old times sake. Needless to say neither of us are UL hikers, but it was pathetic what we went with. I was over 40# and he was close. We only went a few miles on a river trail with no real obstacles like steep hills, but I was whipped and so was he I think. That being said, all was not bad, we have hammocks. Hammocks are a truly restorative and theraputic devise. After only eleven hours in mine I emerged fully rested and feeling ready to tackle the trail home. I simply must get my wife in my hammock for an overnighter, maybe then I can set it up in the house, who knows, she may want one as well. I also qualified in eating and drinking coffee while laying in my hammock. I must do more of this. Happy hanging, ya'll.

I am very familiar with restorative properties of the 11 hour nap. Good for you for not letting age (and back aching pack weights) stop you from hitting the trail.

When I'm in my hammock, I too have found that I sleep better and get up later than I do when I'm at home.

Now you need to get to work on reducing that 40# backpack. You must have been packing some really good food!!!

An 11 hour nap in a hammock sounds good!
Now you just need to leave that cast iron skillet at home
