    guardian bugnet

having switched over to hammocks 2 years ago, last night was the first chance i have had to use a bugnet. i hate summer camping as it is too hot, but i had to make an appearance in the woods yesterday. At 3am is was still 77 degrees, but i was bug free in my eno dn and guardian bugnet. It may not be the lightest bugnet, but man, it was bombproof. I had never set it up before, but was super easy, took only a minute to configure and i was buzz free all night. Glad I made the investment. Now, if only fall would get here so i can go back into the woods. its too darn hot out there.

All I can say is if ohio's already too hot for you, you could not live in ga! ;-). Thanks for posting positively on the bug guardian. I have it too, and it seemed easy for me to set up also, but I've not used it overnight yet and some of the negative nancies on here were starting to make me worry! Hopefully I'll get a chance soon to use it and can confirm your findings!

i have used my guardian bug net twice. Once was last night and I really like it. I am sure it could be lighter and what not but I really think it works well and definitely provides some great bug free nights.

I have used mine on a couple of occasions and it has worked very well. I have since put a fronky style bugnet on my eno sn for backpacking and the walmart special that sits on the front porch as they were much cheaper and lighter. I will keep my guardian for my dn and car camping as it is definitely high quality just not extremely light or compact.

    Silverpalm2x,

I don't have any way to determine a weight difference but,
    1. no zipper
    2. no ridgeline with plastic thingies
    3. no endcaps of ripstop
    4. no stuffsack
    5. no tieouts
    ...
Basically it is just the netting material and about 6ft of 1/8 shockcord with a cordlock on the bottom. I cut the stuffsack off my eno sn and use a wallyworld stuffsack to hold hammock, straps, bugnet, and 2/3 sew-up pluq all assembled. Just hook to two trees and climb in!

Here is a picture of the bugnet on our walmart special hanging on the porch from a diy stand from this link: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=31145
