I just ordered a Blackbird. I didn't know they were right or left-handed. What does that mean?

Once you sleep in a hammock, the ground simply becomes an unacceptable option

Brandon makes a right hand zip hammock upon request, and charges a wee bit more for the custom work. Otherwise his all come stock in the left zip configuration.
Right zips (or lefties as they are called) are for people like Fibby, myself, and others that prefer to lay head to the right feet to the left.
If you have a "regular" gathered end hammock this does not matter, as per you can lay in it any way you want.
The WBBB are directional.
I miss my 4.8Lb base weight as a ground dweller...But I sure DON'T MISS the ground.
