    Hello! New member from WA

I used to hike and live out of a backpack as often as I could, but years went by and life happened. I have been getting back into it over the last year, and was given my first hammock.

I had wanted to try a hammock out for years, but with few opportunities to even get out; I postponed trying. Last year was able to get out for a few days and one of our buddies had a hammock. Instantly my curiosity was again in full force. Now realizing even day hikes, and for spending a day reading out at the park; hammocks have some great potential for me.

Well I received one not long ago, and am now looking to start getting the hang of it (no pun intended). Every search about hammock knots, suspensions, ropes etc. resulted in this place in the top 5 results. So I decided I should join to at least say thanks.

I think my initial questions were already answered (mostly by people and posts on this forum), but I still have a lot to learn. At this point I need to start hanging. I’ll have an order in for some supplies here soon and will get on it soon. However newbie pointers are more than appreciated.

Seems a lot in the way of trends has changed since 8 years ago, but I love that you all are so willing to share and help.

    Thank you all!

Hello and welcome aboard from Arkansas - as far as newbie pointers (from a newbie) insulation under you. If it's going to be less than 70 degrees out. The air flow around the hammock really cools you off. At least 70 is about my cut off and I can get a little chilled at that. If you have a way test in the backyard first it's a short trip in to get more insulation
