    MySingle Layer Dual Mode Hammock

So I decided to make a dual mode bridge/speer type hammock from a single layer. I just got back from 3 days/37 miles in Mt. Rogers NRA, and it seemed to hold up nicely.

The suspension lines are 2.8 spyderline. The spreader bars are from quest outfitters. They attach via some PVC pipe end caps that are screwed into the fabric through short pieces of webbing. This also serves to keep the fabric from bunching in the middle (a problem with cord as the suspension lines). The fabric is 1.9 untreated ripstop from the $1.00 Wally World bin. The design required no fabric cuts (except for the bugnet). It has an internal ridgeline, mostly for hanging stuff. It can be changed from bridge mode to banana mode in about 60 seconds, and if hung right, doesn't require a change in the suspension from hammock to trees. I used a 10X11 JRB tarp for coverage, and JRB quilts under and over to stay nice and toasty. I attached some pics.
