Please keep me in the loop for a definite hang date and location. I am in Hampton, VA but would consider anything within a five hour drive. I am a member of the Tidewater ATC and do some work with the Great Eastern Trail. Anyone want to combine a hang with a trail crew work trip? You know, get together and have something to give back? If so, I will make some calls and check on calendar events for the ODATC, TATC and GET crews. I will say that in the summer / fall months, Sherando can be crowded on the weekends.

@autolox... Part of my *problem* is that I'm such a noob that I have no clue where there are any good places to hike/hammock within 2-3 hours of NoVA -- I've just never have ventured out to do stuff like this. I guess, in my head, the notion of hanging is kinda like what @ShortTripHome is looking to do... but since I've never done that before, I just dunno where or how to find such places.

You're not the only one! I've had gear for some time, gotten out a few times, so, the experience level here is probably novice compared to many here. We can be "the laughed at" for this gig??

Proud PATC member here; best part is cabin privileges--most of the members only cabins are super nice and located in some amazing areas.

I'm about to make my yearly visit to Konnarock Crew in a few weeks, really looking forward to it.
