Anyone ever hammock camp in Yosemite? My friend is a park ranger there and he said he's never seen it. I don't know if they regulate it or anything but I'm planning a trip for this summer and was hoping to get some good hammock hours in.

Not been myself but there have been a few folks from the forum hang there. Here's one trip report and there are others.

I was there a couple of years ago, hanging was no problem. One piece of advise take at least one really long tree strap. I had 10' straps and needed almost every bit. Some of those trees are HUGE!
Ahh man!! I just bought all in one whoopies with 6' strap, I guess I'll be needing extra straps. Thanx for the heads up
I hung there last Sept, and even in the TM backpacker's camp I had no problems. I was waiting to see if a Ranger would object, but none did. I had a couple drop by to check out the WBBB. Some trees are big, but there are a plethora of choices. Back country sites are all too accommodating. 6' straps should do fine, unless you are looking for the big ones.
i guess thats the advantage of hammock camping in the sierras, you have MANY options on where to hang
Hang from trees that are bigger than your straps this way:

Run your whoopie sling THROUGH one loop of the strap, run the strap around the tree and attach the WHOOPIE LOOP to the other end of the strap the same way you normally attach the strap loop (i.e.: marlin spike hitch, buckle as seen here, etc.)
Good luck!

Surely, God could have made a better way to sleep.
Surely, God never did.
I hung there last year on a cycle trip.... Hard to find a site not 2 feet deep in snow in mid June...Lots of regular sized trees in the campgrounds near the Canyon... Normal tree straps were fine.
