If you have converted from a using a sleeping bag as a top quilt to actually using a top quilt, how has that changed your backpacking trips?

Not much...it shaved off just a little weight (30F down bag to 30F down quilt). It's smaller to pack and now I don't worry about the zipper pull snagging or potentially poking a hole in my hammock.
I have had the concern about "what If I go to ground??". So far it hasn't happened and I carry a torso length pad anyway. Worst case scenario I go to ground on my foam pad and still cover up with my quilt. No real change from having my sleeping bag.
Pretty much what Zuki said. I was going to switch to quilts wether I was on the ground or not. Just works so much better for me with heat control and no more claustrophobic episodes at 2am.

Less weight and more pack space.. easier to get in and out of the hammock.

I was using a top quilt while on the ground for a couple of years before going to a Hammock. So not much change for me.
I've been using my sleeping bag as a top quilt for the last few years, both hanging and on the ground, but I've recently bought a top quilt. It saves weight, it is warmer and now I'm not annoyed at having to carry around a zip that I never use.

Much lighter, less bulk in the pack. In a hammock, I found that a sleeping bag was way too much material. I only use TQ's but most of my family still uses sleeping bags.

I stopped zipping up sleeping bags around 15 years ago, part of that was because smaller/lighter bags like the WM Highlite would not zip up with me in it. Even my NF Blue Kazoo would not zip up. So I was using them as quilts anyway, then when I got actual quilts, I knew I would never buy a sleeping bag again.
Has anyone tried the The LuxuryLite® "V" Bag
from luxurylite.com Seems like it would be a good bag to try using as a TQ
