    Dangerbird 72 Weight Question

I'm in the process of choosing my first hammock. I am waffling between the WBBB and Papa Smurf's Dangerbird. I'm a good size boy (6'1" and 220lbs) and am wondering if the extra width of the 72" Dangerbird would be beneficial.

    My question is twofold:
    1. Will the extra width = extra comfort?

    2. And, how much does weight does the extra width add? On his website he has the weight for the 60 listed at 30.65 oz but there is no weight that I can find for the 72. My assumption is that it would weight 4 more oz or so. Can anyone with one confirm the weight?

    Thanks for your help!

Most of the DB72 single layers are coming out around 36-37oz.
The DB72's run somewhere around 56-57oz.

    I'm 240ish, but only 5'8" and I much prefer the DB60 size.

    It has been discovered that

length = comfort....not width, especially for taller individuals.

Now that being said, I have both a WBBB, and PSDB, and I have more or less given the BB to my wife, because I just can't hit the sweet spot. The minute I got in the DB when I bought it last year I was instantly comfy....and haven't gotten out it since since. Don't as me why or how, but the PSDB is just more comfy...but about the same dimensions as the BB. I personally think its in the material he (Papa Smurf) uses...or maybe its that its a gathered end hammock w/o foot box....IDK, but I don't really care either. Its what works for me.

As Randy said..the DB60 will work fine for you.

    YMMV

Not to confuse the issue But personally I like length and width It's all really personal preference. Any chance anyone around you has one or both that you can try out?

Agreed. And if weight is a big concern, you could always go with the RoamingGnome 60 to shave some oz. It is an overcover-less DB.

I'm the same size as you are, that being said I have never tried a danger bird or WWBB. However I do have one of Papa Smurfs' crinkle 60's (same size as the DB 60 but no overcover or netting) and I find it comfortable. My nightly sleeper is an ENO DN and I almost never use the full width so I think that you would be fine with a 60" width. I also find that personally I prefer polyester over ripstop, at least 1.9oz. If you go with the WWBB a DL 1.7 maybe?

    Brother Jeffery,
The weight on your RoamingGnome is 23.80 oz. You'll see a shipping notice shortly.

I think I just pee'd a little! Can't wait to get it, but on topic, once again, the RG60 is a good way to shave some weight.

    Is that an 11 footer?

My DB SL (120x60) comes in at 22.625oz/640gm..and thats with RL organizer, JRB lantern, and swapped out WB Tri Buckles, for webbing suspension. So how is it that the RG weighs more but has less? unless its a 11footer.
