    New "kammok-er"

Hello! I'm 17 from PA and very new to this. Not really an avid camper but love camping in my woods and on trips when i do. I followed Kammok on kickstarter when it first was starting up, now im finally going to get my first hammock, my Roo! I think this is going to be awesome and cant wait for it!

    any advise? THANKS!

Welcome! Here's a few pieces of advice:

RESEARCH. Take the time to read what others have done and reported here. Find out what has worked for others. Once you have an idea of the basics, it's all a matter of personal preference.

PRACTICE. Practice setting up and using your hammock in your back yard or somewhere you can walk to your house from. It won't take long to get the hang of things (hehe), but it's better to learn from your mistakes where you can recover in safety. The trail or deep woods is not the place to learn you didn't bring enough insulation.

RELAX. It's what this is all about after all is said and done. Enjoy yourself!

Welcome to the forum buddy! Just like mrmike65 said...really do your research. I know at 17 I didn't want to do much reading. But that is what it is what you need to do. Don't be afraid to ask questions though, but start reading. Then practice every chance you get. Then what you have been reading will make sense. Have fun with it!
    It's a hammock thing, you won't understand!

The wife no longer kicks me out of bed after she saw a hammock hanging in the dog house.

Welcome to the forums! I have a KAMMOK Roo and found that it is an enormous hammock! Very comfortable, but the size can complicate a few things if you want to camp with it. First, getting bug netting and a tarp that fit can be problematic. Rumor has it KAMMOK is working on both products, but for now you'll need to find other options. The grand trunk funky forest tarp or the guide gear tarp are both huge and would work well with the Roo.

Personally, I found the most comfort when I hung the Roo with a much deeper sag than my other gathered-end hammocks. A 45 degree angle or more works great with the extended width on the Roo.

    Welcome to HF from Mass.

+1 on what dejoha said. and be careful, if you make a DIY bugnet.....you won't stop at just the bugnet. Once you get the DIY fever, there is no cure!

Welcome from a few hours east of you in PA. I agree with the above comments and suggestions. I would also suggest "The Ultimate Hang" as a good starting resource. I spent a very enjoyable hour or two in the hammock reading it.
