    Fontana Dam Trip Next Weekend

I'm meeting my dad at Fontana next weekend (we haven't hiked together in about 15 years). I think we are going to take a very leisurely trek northward via the Lakeshore Trail, Eagle Creek, then up towards Cades Cove. What do you think? Its been about 7 years since I was at GSMNP...

Any other suggestions? I am driving from KY, he is driving from Greensboro, NC...so that's about halfway.

Another question...how's the water situation up that way??

Thanks Skygzr! Nice trip report...If I had a couple of more days, I would do the whole section. Since I only have 2.5 days, does anyone have any more suggestions other than what I posted?

Just did those trails a week ago as part of a longer trek. Lake shore had a lot of ticks. It is a great hike. 17 PLUS STREAM crossings on eagle creak and top is quite steep, but an absolutely beautiful trail. Boat mountain and Anthony creek are very rocky trails but wide. I think you will love it. If you spend a night on eagle creek I prefer the upper camp site I think it was 77 but what ever the upper one is. It has a creek crossing before it a little, and immediately after the camp site. Its a beautiful spot with several hang sites.
