    Busted Hammock

This past weekend my old friend, the camo hammock busted open.
Split from side to side, right in the middle. One side hem remained in tact, one separated.

It's been a good hammock & I'm glad to have gotten so many nights sleep in it.
I'm also grateful that it failed at home, as I was getting ready to get up any way, & that it let me down fairly easy as it tore.

I thought about taking a picture, but we've seen plenty of torn hammocks over the years. But I couldn't remember what year I made it, so I did some research.

In some old pictures in my external hard drive I found the picture I remembered. It was from the 2nd Mt Rogers Area HF Winter Hang, in 2007. I think I had just finished it shortly before the hang.

That's about 4.5 years, every night, except for maybe 3 nights I slept in the recliner. Not bad.
I always use an inflatable air mat (Down Exped mostly), so that no doubt saved some wear & tear.
And of course I had a few other DIY hammocks that I could replace it with.

Ho yeah... the viewing will be tomorrow, followed by a short, grave side service.

Alas, poor Camo Hammock. I knew him, Horatio. A hammock of infinite faculty and rest. Good night sweet hammock. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Sounds like a good run and a great hammock. My condolences to you and yours in this time of difficulty. A sad reminder that in the midst of life we are in death.

I'll fly my flags at half mast. Requiescat In Pace, beloved Camo Hammock

    Sorry to hear that Tim.

If that was walmart fabric, they'll probably refund your money!

You should use it to make a vest, so it will always stay close to your heart.

Or a stuff sack, you know whatever.....

Sorry for your loss, but glad it was a quick and easy passing and not a difficult lingering illness. My condolences..................
