    I'm new to the hammock too.
    I got a couple of overnight trips under my belt using a sleeping bag peapod style earlier in the year when it was still frosty and got on well
    My setup is not midge proof so I'm waiting for the cold to come back so I can get out again ;-}
    Hello Gumms1978 thats alot faster and alot closer than I was expecting, I am in Elgin myself. I only have a couple of trips under my belt as well, one to Roseisle and one to Lossie (East Beach). As you can tell I am loving the sea at the moment which seems to allow a bit more flexibility with my lack of midge protection.

    To everyone else thanks for the replies, its nice to see such an active community, I look forward to drawing from its experience and hope to be able to contribute in return.

    Welcome to the forum mate, you'll find loads of great info here.

    I'm 35 miles west of Glasgow & have been hammocking for over a year now. Gave up sleeping in a tent and have never looked back since.

    I also have a set-up in my bedroom and sleep in my hammock most nights as it helps my back which can be sore & stiff if I sleep in a tent or on a bed.

    I have a Hennessy, a DD and my beloved WBBB - I use the Blackbird all the time & let friends kip in the other two.

    I also love kayaking and do as much of hammocking & kayaking as time off allows.

    You'll learn loads here - it's totally addictive!

    Hello and welcome from Pennsylvania. Any day outside is better than one spent in. I started backpacking with my son last year to get our feet wet. Our second day we did, literally, get our feet wet by hiking most of the day in periods of driving rain with intermittent showers. We still had a blast!

    Hi I'm from the Scottish Borders. I'm also fairly new and still settling in to find my own way of doing things regarding suspension, insulation, etc.

    Hello from the Midlands, so far only gone hanging out down south but looking to explore further in conjunction with my Bongo Campervan. Still new to it all but experimenting and learning fast, all part of the fun, better than boring old tents!
