...My other question is how do you know how much is enough rope to attatch to the tree huggers. the way i set up my hammock is on each end there is a rope tied in a larkshead knot and it is about a foot long which attatches to the carabiner and the tree hugger. should i bring extra rope incase the trees are farther apart?

Yes. you will need enough rope to be able to maintain a 30* (approximately) hang angle regardless of tree spacing. You lose comfort if you stretch the hammock out too flat.
