    begginer hammock tarps

I am looking for a tarp under 55 dollars. I made my own hammock that came out pretty nice, aside from the crease that goes down the middle when i lay on it, but after reading on here i see that's pretty common. I am looking at this tarp, is it worth the money?

also which will keep my dryer diamond or rectangle, I am only 17 so i will not be doing any thru hikes where .2 pounds will be life or death, i don't care so much about weight as i do about comfort at this point in my backpacking career

I am also thinking the Kelty noah 9 tarp would work.

Just ordered that tarp, it looks good! I thought for my first tarp I should get a rectangle because they look easier to set up with the more tie outs. Plus I am not going on any extremely long hikes weight isnt a huge issue considering a tent is 5 pounds

Ridge line down the middle of the hammock? Make sure you have a good 30 degree hang on your suspension, and go for a more diagonal lay. Should minimize or eliminate much of the problem.

I was wondering what the length is the hammock? Any tarp you select will need to have sufficient overhang for that length. 6 inches to a foot on each end seems comfortable for me. There are a lot of 11 and 12 foot hammocks being injected out there now. 10 foot tarp will get you plenty wet

See i made my hammock DIY and i just measured it to be about 8.6 feet straight out on the ground with no hang at all. So i am thinking 10 feet should be more than enough. As for the ridgeline i will do that. My other question is how do you know how much is enough rope to attatch to the tree huggers. the way i set up my hammock is on each end there is a rope tied in a larkshead knot and it is about a foot long which attatches to the carabiner and the tree hugger. should i bring extra rope incase the trees are farther apart?

Some other options would be Chinook and Gear Guide. With the larger Gear Guide you do need to add center tie outs.

When I asked someone told me the Tad Pole and I got the response from Diva as well. I have not made a decision but I would rather go with something from the USA if only because it ships more quickly.

Fedtacticaldirect.com has the Chinook tarps mentioned above in two sizes, both below $50.00. I have the 12x9.6 and really like it. Good value, though not the lightest tarp out there. Here's the link: http://www.fedtacticaldirect.com/sea...y=14&search=GO
