    Got to take a hike

Well, just when I am enjoying sitting around, Go-Lite sends me a Jam 70L in the mail. Of course I had to send them a little something first, but now that I don't have the excuse that my pack is waaaaay too heavy, I guess a hike is in order. So look out for an old man, slow hiking along, and try not to knock me over as you fly by, and I'll be sure to wave as you go on by. This is my first venture into the area of "lighten my load" and is dropping about 5 lbs. right up front. More will fall, but it will take a bit of time. Thanks to all who contributed to this by sharing your successes.

Really hoping to be able to say this soon enough! Congrats on the new gear - gotta love that lighter feeling!

Nice! I Have been eyeing one of those for awhile. Curious what you'll think of it after you get to break it in.

I too am curious as to what I will think later, but right now it is love at first sight. Man, that thing is weightless compared to my great big sack Gregory from 20 yrs. ago. Smaller is good, you can't tote what you can't pack. While they are on sale is the time to buy.

Yes, by all means, one must experiment in the name of science.

I bought one back in Feb. for my son. Might have to swap him my quest for it. Let me know when you plan a trip if you want some company. I went back up to the Chattooga with Mongo18 this week and it was great as usual. I have a lot of learning to do on pack lightening. I emptied about ten lbs. of extra clothes and "other" junk at the truck before I ever hit the trail.
