Do you want to put the hooks on the fixed eye or the adjustable end? I have mine on the fixed eye, but either one works.

Before you undo the bury, take a sharpie pen and mark the Amsteel so that you know how much to bury when you re-assemble the whoopie.

I just added a pair of whoopie hooks to whoopies I made a few months ago. I cut the finished end piece off the tail, pulled it back through the bury, put the hook on an pulled it back through the same bury, then refinished the end of the tail. Looks good and you only loose about 1 or 2 inches off the whoopie.

I want it on the adjustable end as shown on the whoopie hook sheet.

Thanks. I guess I am too paranoid about re-burying the tail.

Thank you for the hint. I am thinking of changing the suspension onto the fixed eye but keep putting it off. Worried I might mess up the original suspension. I just need to learn to make one for myself.

I got the pre-made suspension from Dutch and love it. I also got all of my tarp rigging from Dutch. Simple and easy to use; light. Can't see any reason to change.

    First, I love Dutch’s stuff.

Now for my complaint and solutions with the current “Dutch Suspension System.” With the Adjustable end of the woopie next to the Tree, It is difficult for short people to reach and adjust – aka – my sister Scoot. In addition, depending upon the hang site, if there is brush or obstacles at the base of the tree, you have to climb over those a couple of times to set the right height of the hammock. Second, if it is raining you may have to leave the protection of your tarp for adjustments, setups, or take downs.

My current method is to use two sets of these wonderful Dutch hooks. One on a continuous loop or a fixed eye from the hammock (I call it the Sgt Rock method). Next, I place the fixed eye of a woopie into this hook. Then either place the second Dutch hook on the Adjustable loop of the woopie – best – or on another continuous loop that is attached to the Tree Huggers.

My next solution is to place a hook on both the fixed and adjustable loops of the woopie. That should keep me from having to purchase so many of these hooks and leaving them fixed on hammocks. I will just swap out the woopies. I think this is the most elegant solution. Dutch should market these as an alternative.

I left my hammock suspension alone and put the whooping hooks on a continuos loop, looped onto my tree straps. Now I can use one set of whoopies hook and tree staps on all my hammock without messing with the suspensions.
