Cuben Tarp Ridgeline Tieouts - CRL or two piece ??

Just wondering what everyone is using on there cuben tarps.

I've allways been a continuous ridgeline guy, figured it was a liitle stronger for a cuben tarps as most of the tension is on the cord, not the tarp.

But figured some might prefer the 2 piece ridgeline. I have wondered if there are any strength issues using a 2 piece on the cuben in bad weather.

    What do you use, why.

I've had my cuben in some pretty ridiculous winds which really gives you confidence in the strength. You shouldn't have any problems with a 2 piece. I'm a CRL guy too but lately I've been playing around with 2 piece ridgelines too because I wanted to try the Dutch Stingerz but I'll probably go back to a CRL just as a matter of preference.

Rigging is just too fun to not change around from time to time.

You know it's really windy when your cuben tarp is making a sound like a saxaphone reed.

    i use a 2-piece ridge system:

    a) pussiks at the tieouts with dutch hooks at the tree
    or
    b) dutch tarp flyz

    works well for me.

I use a CRL on my cuben tarps. I like the ease of it and just what I am used to. I find as long as the purssic wraps around enough times so it does not slip I have gotten a tight pitch.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

CRL on my larger cuben and 2 piece on the smaller one. I find CRL easier to adjust. I tend to use my larger tarps in the Winter, so ease of adjusting with gloves on favors the ridgeline.

    I really like this method

Because you can easily adjust the horizontal position of tarp (the slide) and requires minimal or no hardware. Works fine for my cuben tarp.

For the one-piece CRL, what length are you using?

If you keep a "V" at both ends, and have a max tree spacing of about 18 feet, would you use about 30 feet of line?

I suspect that 30 feet would be enough. I actually think the line I have is a bit longer than that (maybe 36-40 feet), but I need to cut it down a bit as I have never needed the full length. I'm just always a little reluctant to cut line until I'm really sure its the right thing to do.
