Most of my prusiks are 3-4" in length, tied with a simple square not.
If I'm not splicing a loop, I use a zeppelin bend.
Good luck,

I generally like to splice my loops cause they just look cleaner however if the cord is to thin double fisherman's knot.

Nice that's what I did I just knotted them just seeing if it made a difference I used dynaglyde for the first prusik that is around the tree hooked to a fig9 then shock cord for my other two prusik is shock cord bad should I swap them out for some dynies
Are the two prussic shock cord the ones that attach to your tarp. Me personally would not use shock cord due to not wanting it to loose any tension when it gets cold out or throughout the night. Just like an UQ suspension sags shock cord used as prussic could also sag loosing tension on your tarp RL.
Other may disagree saying that shock cord allows the tarp some give in high winds which may prevent damage to the tarp.
I'd say its a HYOH thing. But try both. One with a prussic dynaglide and one with a prussic shock cord. Set it up and leave it up for the night. Next morning see how the tension is on both and if one loosened up or not. Good excuse to sleep in the hammock as well.

Nice good thinking it seems to hold ok I'll prolly just make them out of dynaglyde to be safe and just use the shock on my tie outs thanks fellas
HYOH however I used to use self tension guy outs but got tired of waking up in the winter time with a saggy tarp. Its the same concept as using them for purssic knots on the RL. They do give some give in high winds and if some one trips over your lines then it gives gives as well but in cold temps they just sagged to much for me. It got to a point where I was pulling them so tight they dident have any give anyways. Again HYOH. I now use 1.2mm Tech line from BWDD DIY gear site. Have fun playing with your tarp.
