Toggles??

Hey guys I read that walmart sells plastic toggles but my local one doesn't so I did find a tent repair kit it came with three tent pole repair pieces seam seal nylon and poly thread I grabbed it thinking it would be useful in case of a rip my question is are the tent pole pieces ok to use for toggles? If so pretty cheap kit only coast 4 bucks

Pretty much anything sturdy can be used as a toggle.
Trail stick (not rotten) about the thickness of your finger.
Arrow shafts can be cut down to a suitable size or obtained scraps of arrows from your local hunting store.
A piece of pvc pipe.
The skinny end of an old golf shaft can be used.
A bolt or piece of metal rod or a good tent stake.

General rule is if you cant snap or bend the toggle in your hand it will work in your strap.

Your tent poles should work. Give 'em a quick test. Fiberglass can be brittle after a while, so inspect often.

There aluminum inserts to fix a tentpole if it breaks I'm sure it will wrk then thanks

Though not ultralight, I use a pair of screw that are about six inches long. Added bonus, It makes people think the hammock is secured withscrews, and noone (cough cough my boyscout buddies) is messing with it

I use waterproof plastic matchstick tubes. They sell the orange ones at walmart.

I am still using rifle shell cases as seen in my avatar. They have worked great for a couple of years now.

I just saw an old dried out sharpie at work. I took the tip out cut off the end about a half inch. It is very slightly tapered, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work, we'll see. I normally just pick up some trail sticks. Lots of possibilities out there it seems. Like the shell casings!!
