Excellent work on the sock and the video gentlemen.

How is the sock for in actual rain? Any sprinkler testing done yet? I see a potential for rain to run down the sides and possibly leach up thru the breathable vent bottom onto the under quilt??

Possibly a pull-out on the back?

Good video MM. Nice to see the development in one place. Look forward to seeing how it works out over the next few months. Amazing how much innovation has happened in the hammock world in the last 3 yrs. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think that the WB cuben will "wet out" from the testing I did with the material. If it does the small section on the bottom will be the least of MM's problems since the whole backside and top are the same material

One of the reasons I enjoyed working with MM on this project is that he uses his gear almost weekly and is willing to break new ground. He understands that things may need to be tweaked and has great input. This was his project, I just helped make it a reality and it is still a work in progress. Looking forward to seeing a full season of use.

I must admit that I have not been a sock user in the past but after seeing MM set this up in about 20 seconds with TQ, UQ, and hammock inside I may be changing my mind

Hangnout is being modest here! The truth is that he's a major innovator.
I like to call him the "Quiet Innovator." Not only have I employed his shockcord top closure for bugnets and socks, but I've also stolen his shockcord footbox design.

    Keep 'em coming, Hangnout!

Agree! Medicine Man pushes the envelope for all of us. A true pioneer, the Daniel Boone of the hammocking world. He has single handily been responsible for describing in a single word my exact situation every time I read his posts or see another one of his videos - "Roched"

    Can anyone say, "Deluxe Hammock?"

    Excellent design, execution, and presentation!

Last year, after Pips showed us her full coverage bugnet based on Hangnout's top closure system, I immediately made a hammock sock of the same design using 0.67 oz/sy breathable fabric. I love it. However, I still have a separate tarp, but figured that someday an integrated tarp/sock would come drifting by (Dirigible).

I was amazed how small the total package is in the stuff sack when you were deploying it toward the end of the video!

Gargoyle pointed out the obvious I didn't see--on the whole trip is never rained while hanging, a bit while cycling which was a blessing SO just got back from Walmart, going to take a little nap then deploy the sprinkler!
Breathable bottom vent-maybe Hangnout will chime in here, hope so, but I'm thinking (maybe wrong) that the w/b cuben is directional and moisture/water can go one way out. The entire structure is fully taped so no fear of leaking directly and the 'hoods' where the sock gets 'pulled' out along the suspension is another brilliant design feature that removes an doubt of water getting in that way.
I'll post a short vid of the sprinkler test later tonight.
Bill you are so right, its almost log growth in the developments in the last few years.
MAD, nothing wrong with the separate tarp-it still gives you more variability in set up...we thought of doing that with the asym cuben from Zpacks but my main mission was a quick simple setup with NO lines to deal with at all, of course other than the suspension lines.

Thanks for sharing MM. I'm very intrigued by this design. Can't wait to see one up close.
