On the Dirigible I'm not using a dedicated bug net. On the last 2 hikes with this sock there was only the permethrin net! (permethrin applied to the sock)...
I did make a bug net, reallyl just a sheet of thule on a ridgeline. I carried it and put it in place but it was a waste of time, just not enough bugs on that trip to bother.
On the Graf I don't know if Hangout is doing a dedicated bug net/SEEP that pops into place like the momentum SEEP on the Dirigible or not. Either one holds in significant heat and I can't say what the weight difference between a momentum SEEP would be compared to a bug net SEEP.

OK a few vids on my youtube that shows the Dirigible, but to be clear on several points-
the tarp is integral to the Dirigible, cannot remove, can throw over and stake down out of the way if you want.

Wow, I'm really liking your idea, as much as my own! My brain is whirling trying to find a way to combine what I see as the strengths of both designs, but there's just too much goodness.It has become obvious to me that I need to get out hang even more. That will surely help to set my priorities.

I just explained on another thread how I made it. Simply folded a 1 inch seem in tulle and glued it!
The zing-it that runs through the glued channel simply attaches to each gathered end, the tulle bugnet drapes over the sole open side of the hammock sock.
Very light, kinda cheep, can carry when you think you might need it.
Since it's only a one panel bugnet it won't work with say a Traveler or a Neutron-5.
Since I'm such a cold person/sleeper I really can enjoy the sock year around...with the exception of 2 weeks ago when it was 97F in camp, though it would have been nice that next morning when it was much cooler. So I can pop this bugnet in or just use the momentum SEEP to keep the critters away.
We've just been lucky OR the permethryn really works. On the hike 3 weeks ago when Neutron joined us he and Poof were in netting and I had none, that was the super hot hike and no sock...just me in a Traveler with a zpacks asym tarp. Nary a bug not near me.
In the long run I'm sure the bugnet is way more cost effective than applying permethryn but the permethryn does last a long time especially if NOT washing the gear. Applied to the inner side of the tarp only can help.
I think the concept is proven now...last two nights in the Tsongas Nat Forest with constant constant rain...Juneau is in a rain forest so it was expected. At 46 degrees no condensation. Body heat surely is driving the moisture.
