While laying in the cool air. I hear all the Animals talk. I feel the intire world slow down, my only worries are cold water, dry clothes, food. Everything slows down..
I love the sensation of the hammock lifting me into the tree canopy, then I'm gone from this realm.
This is one of my all time favorite threads.
For me its that moment you get in your hammock watching the night sky through the tree tops and the wind gently sways the trees and you feel like you could be a thousand feet off the ground and it doesn't matter... a moment of pure bliss.
How lucky i am to have that.
Matt.

Well, the heart beat feelings are interesting. I have a computer in my shoulder that keeps my heart beating, and controls the beat of my heart. I really am not very keen on focusing on my heart beat.
What I seem to get the most value from is feeling like I am two steps ahead of Nature, what ever that means. I get the same feeling when the temp. is -45 C., the snow is swirling overhead and I am in a hot tub, watching the storm. A power trip. Hanging in a tree in a major storm is the same kind of beating nature feeling. As I am thinking about what I really enjoy, maybe it is a feeling of being up close and personal, while still being comfortable.
I have observed a Bob Cat with her two cub playing. I was hanging and could not sleep, I was just watching to see what I might see, the cats came out and were playing around the creek. I wish I could have photographed them. I have also seen Skunk families foraging, and large numbers of Racoons, I have been invaded by Racoons, not funny, like I would have thought. Now I keep my puglet in the hammock with me. The Racoons, do not seem to like the doggie smell.
Lots to see if a person is still, just sitting (or hanging), watching, being open to new experiences. Different forest sounds for different times.
I have a pacemaker too. When I'm still enough to feel my heartbeat I rather enjoy the occasional pause and the following assisted beat, precisely because I know that I'm beating nature. It helps me keep it all in perspective. Every moment is a gift.

Nap? I'm afraid I won't wake up and miss dinner! I'd waste away to a TON! My cardiologist needs me!
My favorite moment was waiting for a friend in his back yard, hanging in his hammock... I knew I was one with the trees when the humming bird hovered less than 3' from my face, checking me out... I guess I wasn't sweet enough . . .

It amazes me how loud the insect highway can get. They sure are busy little suckers, going here and there. I just keep thinking, what's the rush?
I usually just lay there and listen for the unmistakable footfalls of samsquantches...
(They'll sneak right in on ya. I swear. Leave 'em jerky, or beer, or both.)
