Got my ENO dn

So I just received my ENO dn from REI and am ready to start modifying it. While I am waiting for my DynaGlide whoopies I want to cut off the flaps. I purchased a woodburner pen.

My question is how do you cut off the flaps? When you get close to the end channel do you just continue to cut straight across? If so will that reseal the threading or will it start to come unraveled? I do not have a sewing machine so I am unable to restitch at this time.

My second question is how do you cut off the cinch buckle and strap off of the stuff sack included with the hammock without the stuff sack coming apart?

I just cut mine straight across the end channels and then reinforced the stitching by hand. Just took a needle and polyester thread and did several whip stiches. Very easy to do. For taking off the compression strap from the stuff sac I used my pocket knife to cut the stitching. You can get a stitch cutter from a sewing shop.

I hate seeing the sides being cut. At the proper angle, I don't have floppy sides, but I'm tall....you could always do knottys stretch side mod if it bothers you that much and it leaves the hammock intact and easier to possibly sell later on. Just a suggestion.

DivaB has a good point about resale. I found I get floppy sides so I cut the sides off. It is still wider than a single nest and there is no seam to lie on. For me it is just right but YMMV. Be certain you want to cut it. Use it for a while and then see how you feel maybe.

I am not worried about resale i can always keep it around for my girls
I'm short, only 5'7" so don't think I will need the extra width
and my style is more ultralight, looking for a light comfortable setup.

The seams on my stuff sac were not involved with the strap stitching. Can't say if its changed at all since mine is a couple of years old. Can't imagine it has changed though.
