Kelty Noah's 9 Tarp... Anyone else?

Anyone used or have a Noah's 9? What are your thoughts?

First I have only used this 2 nights so far... But I do like it (1 issue see below).

I have noticed a few comments on vendor sites and here that say the Noah's 9 is not large enough, but the thing is big. 122" x 122" Making the ridge line in diamond setup 172.5" Guessing the 9 in the name comes from the rough size in the mid of the edges. Point to Point is 122" but it has a "Scallop" shape or "cat" cut on the edges and I assume this is close to 9'... I will try to get a measurement sometime soon.

It seems pretty light (I am not an UL hiker/camper yet). Materials and build quality seem good (at least so far again I have only used it two nights).

The only change I would like to see is the addition of middle guyline tieouts. The larger tarps I believe have middle tieouts but the 9 does not have a center line tieout. So I need to add a couple of them I guess.

Good tarp for the money and I know several members have used it with success.... I personally have used the Noah 12 as a full weather tarp with doors...

I have one and used it a lot before switching to hammocking. If you're ground camping, (oh the horror!) and everyone is using a waterproof bivy, you can EASILY fit 3 people + gear under that tarp. This possible because with the bivy your legs can extend beyond the tarp.

That being said, I have not used it for hammocking because I think that it would be too big for my current setup. Its also heavier than I want to go. Generally, hammocking is heavier than standard tarp camping so using my smaller asym is my ounce for ounce compromise.

I have one, and I like it, but some folks don't like the diamond shape for rain coverage. It is also a bit heavier than some of my other tarps. I mainly have it for others to use when needed. It is a very nice tarp, and I have used it in the rain and stayed very dry. It was not a heavy side blowing rain. You can't beat it for the price. I got it on sale at Cabelas for about $49.

I have the 9. It was my main 3 season tarp, before buying a Tad Pole. It's a great tarp. I used it in a pretty good wind/rain storm. I did have 4 extra guy lines (mason line whoopies) to help close it up, a little. Stayed dry.

We both have a Kelty Noah 9X9 and use them with good coverage over our Warbonnet Blackbirds. I love them. I read on here that they do not have good water protection but we survived downpours off the coast of Maine a couple of weeks ago in them and not a drop of water was to be found. I highly recommend them, in face I bought a friend one for her birthday.
    Hope this helps

    Noah 9

I have been using a Noah 9 with my ENO DN for about two years and have used it in some pretty heavy wind and rain. I have had no issues with it. It's a great economical tarp. I'm actually thinking about picking up a Noah 12 to have something i can close off in the winter.

I use a Noah 9 and it works great. Heavier than more expensive tarps, but the Noah is excellent- lots of tie-outs, waterproof, strong, etc.,etc.
