This is about 1 hour north of you. I don't know about showers. There was a report recently in the Trips section about it. Not sure what your requirements are either.

Texas State Park at Tyler Texas, about 2 hours east of Denton, is a great place. You'd need to call to reserve a spot. THey have RV slots, tent slots, primative, bathrooms and showers.

    Hey,
I'll be in Denton each day for most of the time, so anything more than 30 min or so from Denton won't really work for me.
    Thanks,
    Bill

Lake Ray Roberts is about a half hour from Denton. It's a TX state park. Has many comfort amenities. Nice family camping environment. My experience is from pre-hanging days, so can't comment from that perspective.
Camping on both N and S sides of the lake, but S side is much closer to Denton.

Lake Ray Roberts north side has some great remote sites with big trees and really only about 200 feet from the car but right on the lake and a world away from the rat race.

The places that I'm aware of for camping in Denton are RV parks. There are three fairly large lakes that are 10-45 mins away depending on where you will be in Denton and where you decide to camp.

    Lake Grapevine - http://www.lake-grapevine.com/camping/

Just a few minutes south of Denton, on the north side of Lewisville Lake you have:

Lake Dallas Willow Grove - small and fairly open, they say the showers were supposed to be complete by end of May. http://www.lakedallas.com/willowgrovepark_location.html

Hickory Creek Park - nice park with good trees and access to the lake..primitive and electrical sites. Showers. http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/lew...ckoryCreekPark

Sycamore Bend - This is more hidden and less known. But has some nice sites. Not sure if the facilities include showers.

Pilot Knoll - Great place with a lot of options. Has showers...is close to the shops at Highland Village if it gets too hot http://www.highlandvillage.org/Facil...e=detail&RID=1

Pilot Knoll Park and Hickory Creek Park are probably the two best campgrounds on Lake Lewisville. Both are on the northwest side of the lake.

We love both of those parks.

Note: you can find info on all the Lake Lewisville campgrounds right here.
