Hi all, new to all this, but had a taste of blissful hammock sleeping last weekend out camping with friends, and I was instantly hooked. I was so much more comfortable, and don't think I ever want to sleep in a tent again. I stumbled on these forums, and I sure am glad I did as all of you seem real cool and helpful. I look forward to sharing and learning with all of you. Most of all, I can't wait to get outdoors and get in that hammock again!!

Welcome from Central California! As you said, there are a lot of great folks here sharing a lot of knowledge--and now you're one of them.
It's amazing how much time I spend looking for excuses to go camping now that I'm using a hammock (used to be the other way around--the Missus would say "I really think we should take the kids camping this year," and I would start thinking about all the sticks, rocks, pine cones, and tree roots that I would, inevitably, wind up sleeping on, and say something like, "I hear that the National Forest Service stated that last year one out of five campers were mauled by bears... there are 8 of us, honey, so statistically that seems like a bad idea, and I haven't even taken into account the increasing occurance of mountain lion attacks..."). Now I don't have make up statistical data
