I had to get one on my last order because they were so cheap, but I think they are way to heavy and even rigid for a hammock. My opinion of course, but I don't think so. I now have a nice "tablecloth" that I don't have a use for...
Yep, ditto for me! Wasted $$$ for one of these too. The material is too scratchy and "grabby" to make a comfortable hammock, in my opinion. Stick with the crinkle taffeta.

I was suspicious about it and got the navy blue. At least you can look at it without shades on...

I just got my crinkle taffeta table cloth yesterday. Seems pretty rough/scratchy to me. Maybe I've just grown accustomed to the silky smooth feeling of calendared 1.1 ripstop nylon but even my grand trunk ultralight (polyester) wasn't this rough. I'll make the hammock though and see how it is laying in it. It might be totally fine.

I dunno, it's a tad warmer feeling than nylon and I don't slide down like ripstop. For a tv room hammock it's not bad. I've got some wrinkled taffeta on order to try that.

You can send me your wasted tablecloths. I'll put whoopies on them and get them to folks that won't know what they're missing. I think I have strap material too.

I got my order this morning. A total of 5 days since the order was placed. Not bad since they had to traverse the pond to get here.

The material does feel a bit firm and scratchy but I think a quick bath in fabric softener should do the trick nicely.

Just made an order. Hopefully this will be a great boy scout project. Boys should be able to have a hammock with suspension under $20.
