Instead of whipping, a great no-sew, no-slip method is Knotty's gathered ends: Click HERE

I think you'll enjoy learning to sew your own stuff. It's challenging and very rewarding. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up on this sale. I just ordered 5 to make hammocks for friends and family. Including freight I can make them for around $18 a piece (I got the 10% discount as well ). That is a heck of a sweet deal since I don't have to sew anything!

Thanks! Isn't Knotty's based on running a cord thru the channel? The hem on the tablecloth is so small and only one pass with the thread so that doesn't seem like an option, as my trust in the Chinese thread for a tablecloth is quite low. But I haven't taken time to read the entire thread, I'll try to read the post soon.

Gotta find the whoopie sling material and suspension material now. I hung D rings in my office and the larger diameter rope I used ain't gonna make for a light backpack!

You're right, sewing in on my to do list. Probably going to sew up a couple of 1.1 hammocks for my daughter & I in a couple of weeks if it is substantially cheaper than what I can buy from BIAS. Probably going to purchase a couple of cheaper tarps and the $12 bug nets from REI for our 1st rigs.
