    Newbie from West Michigan

Hey guys. I just joined HF not to long ago and I am looking forward to getting to know you. I live in west Michigan and I am only 10-15 minutes from the NCT trail head which is really nice to jump on.

I have been an avid day hiker and tent camper for a couple of years but after watching some of Shug's videos I took the plunge and bought a DD hammock. I bought the DD because it can be used as a hammock or a bivy very easily. I just spend my first weekend in the hammock and I liked it but I will need a different hammock to take on the trail.

The DD is nice but I need more room and I am a very hot person so the fact that the hammock fabric is water proof and not breathable with the summer heat was not good. Good thing my son liked laying in it so I have an excuse with the wife to buy another hammock. I am thinking of getting the Warbonnet Blackbird. From what I have seen I think that will fit my style of sleep and comfort better.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting you guys on the trail.

Yea, a not breathable hammock would feel terrible in the summer. Welcome, from Ohio.

Welcome aboard from the east side of MI. We try and get a good number of hangs together here, so keep an eye out for postings. A lot of use are BB fans. Good hammock.

    Welcome!

Don't take being adjacent to the NCT trail head for granted. I drive over 3 hours to get to a decent start!

    Welcome and enjoy!
