Hanging at the Outer Banks NC

I'm vacationing at the Outer Banks in NC, and I brought along my ENO doublenest and my Hennessy Hammock. I told my wife last night that I was going to sleep in the hammock, so I rigged the ENO and had a wonderful nights sleep near the beach. AWESOME just thought I'd share.

Pretty area. I really enjoyed my trip down the Outer Banks a few years ago. Although, one place we stayed had the worst mosquitoes I have EVER experienced (scouting, personal camping, military, all included).

I would love to take that trip again. Cool sites and great food.

    Where abouts are you staying?

I'm headed to the Corolla Beach area in the fall and have been wanting to take a hammock but didn't know if it would be practical in terms of finding places to hang. I could so sleep at the water on the OB.

I've spent a bunch of summer vacations just south of Corolla in the Ocean Sands area. The only way I can imagine hanging there close to the water is to rig a partial stand where you tie off to a wooden structure giving access to the beach, with a pole of some kind and some serious cord and sand stakes.

Theres enough fishing piers along the beach.. Bet you could pull it off.
Other than that you would probably have to find a park in Duck or something.. But that's not really the same.

Sounds like a great idea. I'm headed to Corolla in early July. Think I'll bring along a hammock and explore this idea.

Too funny I was just there last week and hung off the porch of the Beach house! I used my Byer traveler lite ! It was great ! I too used to live there and I miss it at least twice a day! You can also hang your hammock between two vehicles.
