Redmond, excellent-excellent. i LOVE the area. Used to climb Smith back in the day... (that patented term is for exclusive use by old-timers only )

i'm hoping to hit "The Big Raisin", Paulia Lakes, & maybe Tygh valley too, on my way north, to the Gorge / hood river area, in about a month or so.

ALso hoping to hit the coast and the Waldo lake hang on the way back south ..... So, hope to meet you and others at Waldo !!

Welcome from Central California! I lived all over Oregon for a couple of years, and my favorite time, by far, was the summer I spent in Madras. I'd often drive in to Redmond--beautiful country! Smith rock, the Ogden Scenic wayside, and the Cascades and Deschutes River just a hop, skip and jump away. The high dessert is a gorgeous place... wish I was still there

Oregon is a great place to hang with a lot of friendly and dedicated hangers who are always looking for an excuse to get together. You'll have some great times--make sure to post the trip reports (I live vicariously ).
You're gonna need a bigger hammock
