What size should I make the hem in the asym tarp I'm working on? U was thinking doing 1/4" hem and then folding it over another 1/4" for a 1/2" folded hem. Would that work?

Small hems are difficult for me in thin fabrics.
EDIT: Yes. 1/4" rolled hem as you described will work. I prefer 1/2" rolled hem. Fold 1/2", then fold 1/2" again. Small hems are difficult for me in thin fabrics.

Thanks ill move up to a 1/2" rolled hem. Been having problems with controlling the fabric as it is.

Actually, I make my hems as small as possible on a tarp, usually 1/4" folded twice like your original suggestion. I see it after the first fold and then see it again after the second fold.
I have two reasons for this. The edge of a tarp is cut on a catenary curve and the larger a hem is, the harder it is to navigate curves. There's more fabric on the outside of the curve than on the inside. So, things tend to bunch up and go awry. The smaller hem reduces this problem.
The double sewing makes dealing with these small hems easier but it also lends more strength to the hem.

Good point. I was going to sew each fold either way but did not think of the curve problem.
