    New Lofter from NY

Saved up enough to purchase myself a good hammock (need opinions actually)

I'm an avid motorcyclist. Being so, I hate having to strap an entire tent to the bike and setting it up as well. Been wanting to purchase a nice hammock for about a year now.

    Onto the advise...

I'm about 6'2" 230lbs. Ultimately, I had figured I was going to be buying an HH explorer deluxe. I keep reading that the WBBB is the way to go for hammocks this range. The problem being, I want to keep just at $200 maybe just slightly over.

I like the tarp that comes with the hennessy very much (large hex.) Anyone have any input as to a good tarp I could get with the WBBB to keep it in price range? Either that or I think I'll stick with my initial idea of getting the HH setup.

The superfly is a great tarp for the money.

I would certainly agree, though that'll bring the price to $300. Not what I'm aiming for.

Welcome from Indiana. Check the for sale section and see if you can snag a slightly used hammock and tarp from a member here. Good luck!
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

I have a Kelly Noah's tarp 12 that I used for a while before the wife took it. It's a 12x12 on the square it's like $60. Hammock and bike fit under it. guide gear makes a 12x12 as well and cheaper. Put them in tarp skins and trash pack it in a saddle bag.you can also buy the Hennessy hex on its own that's what is over my wbbb a lot of the time.these are not the litest of tarps but on a bike that is less of an issue

    Welcome !!

As a Moto (touring, sports, & Sumo) I would state the obvious ; pack size is important, weigh less so. Also, the last thing you need, if spending hours ridings is: more leg cramps .. hard to walk it off
. Thus: choose the largest roomest (in leg department) that you can.

Is Camo / stealth an issue??

Large tarp to cover you and bike?? I'd guess Prolly not, but maybe. Have you joined motocampers forum ??? A couple of us hangers and riders there. Adv riders forum also has a hanger camper KTM rider ... Message me to discus s further.

Actually just ordered the explorer delux from hennessy including their large hex tarp. Couldn't beat the price for the package. expecting it the 25th.

Weight for the trip is not an issue at all. I also have two very large side paniers and a trunk, KLR 650. The biggest problem with the tent I have is that it just barely won't fit in the side panier, packs just a little too long.

I'm on ADV, as wreckster. I will have to take a look at motocampers though, sounds like a good forum.
