    Exped Ergo mods?

I am just curious to know if anyone has tried making any modifications or cool add on stuff (e.g. a weather shield or customized UQ). It looks like a really cool system, but it also looks like it would lend itself to being lightened up a bit through modification.

We had our first look at the hammock in Ontario recently in Algonquin Park.

Mod 1: Throw away the rope that wraps around the trees. Replace with huggers/whoopies or adjustable webbing.

Mod 2: The ridgeline is adjustable but made of the same rope as the tree ropes. Its heavy and the adjustment is unneccessary. Find the length that works for you and replace with a fixed dynaglide or lash/zing it or amsteel line.

Mod 3: Put a sliding prussik on the ridgeline to accept the shock cord from the bugnet.

I think that's about it from our detailed once over. The hammock seems to be a good solution for those that want to use the down mat and a hammock together.

My only complaint was the hammock was a bit short. I don't like anything touching my head/feet.

    Dan.

Thanks for the info. It seems as though, just like any hammock, it will be loved by some and not by others. If I had the spare change ( I wish it were just mere change to me) I would like to get one and try it out.

I agree with the spare change. I've always been very intrigued by this hammock design and would love to try it out, but clearly see it is entirely too short.
