Anybody made or used a Kid sized hammock?

My Grandson is going to be 4 soon and our family is a bunch of Rabid BWCAW canoe campers. I'm thinkin' a smaller hammock might be more enjoyable as he wouldn't "swim around in it" as much? Being that it is relatively easy to make a smaller hammock I thought I might give it a try. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have made four or five smaller hammocks for the GK's. I think I used Just Jeff's method and sizing.

I don't have time right now but will look it up for you. I made each one in the favorite color but without the bug net.

I have two more to make for next weekend but they are for larger kids. PM me if you cannot find more detailed info.

I made one for my 2 year old daughter using the ENO single nest dimensions and it works great and she can grow into it for many years.

I've made several for the kids over the last few years...

My son's first hammock.... 8' body:

That Same hammock later (DIY HH Style - thanks to HC4U)

I ended up selling it 2 months later as he outgrew it... Darn Kids!

    Then I made this one:

    It's a 9' body...

    And My daughter's: (also 9')

If I had to do it over again, I'd make 2 over their lives: One at 8' until they're about 9 years old, and one at 10' for them to use forward... They grow too darn fast, and an 8' hammock is not too big for a really small kid IMHO...

Sorry I didn't think you got on anymore...well, I actually forgot you had an account. Opps.

Yea, just two hammocks will work just fine. Clearly as seen, when I first posted this and to now in a matter of minutes, he's grown more

i have a made a few of them. Even have made some blackbird clones that have been sized down for a kid.

One word of advice, just make them a 9ft/10ft hammock from the get go. While it will big to big at first, they grow into them rather quickly. By going a standard size you will save a lot of time and hassle. I have had my kids grow out of them almost as fast as I am making them.
