For backpacking I like polyester, but I won't say no to a nylon hammock.mfor home, I'm smitten with my woven Mayan hammock. It's unbelievable! Even my wife loves it, which is saying something.

[I][/II really like DIY Gear Supplies' 1.1 OD Navy Blue nylon ripstop. I'm #280 and like the Double layer I made from it... Though most at my weight avoid 1.1 I also triple stitched it like the way they do with the store bought ones and with the straighest type they have.]

I like the firmness of polyester.
    Good luck,

I haven't tried the 1.1 ripstop yet. I make mine with 1.7 and every time I get in one I can't think of a reason to make one out of 1.1. I'm not into the ultra lite stuff since my hikes are usually day hikes of about 4-8 miles.
But I do spend hours laying in one out in the back yard and the cotton sounds nice for that.
    How about wool?

This is true. I know the Mayans are really comfortable. But I think of them as an indoor hammock.
