Last night I went and changed my fly to be below the single line suspension instead of over top of it so I can use these tie offs I saw on one of Shug's videos. I think he got the idea from teepee, but I may be mistaken. The way I figure is that the tarp is the one thing that's already waterproof. The hammock goes in a bishop bag. I have snake skins on the wishlist so eventually I'll get some and try 'em. Probably whenever I spring for a HH.

Last weekend I came to rethink snakeskins.

I had, them, used them and sold them a couple of years ago.

Last weekend I had to pack a wet tarp, normally not that much of a problem, but this one was HUGE (I borrowed it)....I was busy getting that wet monster back into the stuffbag and kept thinking..... mmmm maybe a snakeskin set for the tarp would be a good idea....

i like snake skins.keeps the hammock free of debris on set up and take down. i dont have a set on my tarp yet. yet being the key word.but plan on it.maybe making a set myself.maybe out of netting as this does sound like a great idea.
a hammock {claytor} , with tree huggers ,snake skins, and slip rings makes for a very fast set up. the only thing taking much time now is the tarp/fly. but i was thinking tarp, rope tree hugger type lines on both sides of tarp, slip rings on both sides of tarp ,and snakeskins would make for pretty quick tarp/fly set up as well.put the tarp in its snakeskins along with treehugger/slipring lines in bottom of bag supplied by claytor and the hammock, snakeskinns, treehuggers in top of bag. that way itll go up and be took down in the order in which you just naturally set it up and take it down.

Skins on my tarp but hammock and quilts get stuffed in a Zpacks cuban drybag. I leave everything all together so all I have to do hook my hammock to my whoopie hooks and i'm done.

They did not go on as cleanly as I would have liked. I need to work with it more. For now, it is a pain to work out.
AG, if I understand you correctly I felt the same way when I tried out that suspension system. If you take a look at the pics in my post here you can see the small alteration I made to the set up. In short I use the short piece of rope that is attached to the D-rings to hook up the biners, instead of hooking them directly to the D-rings. This creates a space off of the tarp where the skins bunch up nicely.

I use a small sized Lazy Slug Tube for my DangerBird hammock, JRB over and under quilts. I think it works very well. Can't pack it down quite as much as before, but keeping all three items together helps setup and take down time a lot. Also have a separate snake skin for my tarp, but it doesn't work quite as well. Without the snake skin, I can fit my tarp in a side pocket of my pack, with it I can't.

Love my Python Skin, makes it easy to pack up the tarp when breaking camp.

It's a regular stuff sack with a drawstring closure like normal on one end. On the other (the side which would traditionally be the "bottom" of the sack), there's an hole for the hammock's suspension to pass through. So that one can hang the bag via the suspension, open it, and then pull the hammock across to the other tree without having it touch the ground. It's so named for the forum member who invented it, blackbishop.

    Hope it helps!
